Julia's Watersmeet Walk

Walk start: Lynmouth Distance: 4.9 miles (7.9 km) Difficulty: Moderate


Starting in Lynmouth, this is a scenic walk through the East Lyn Valley, leading to Watersmeet. The route then climbs out of the river valley behind the Watersmeet Tea Room, up and along Trilly Ridge over to Countisbury via Winstons Path to Chiselcombe. Chiselcombe sits just below the A39 a few minutes walk from the Blue Ball Inn, it's notable for a delightful dew pond - teeming with wildlife. Cross the road and head to Countisbury Church just after the Blue Ball Pub and walk through the churchyard. The back gate of the Churchyard leads directly on to the South West Coast path where can begin your descent to Lynmouth. The views along the South West Coast Path towards Lynton & Lynmouth are simply breathtaking. Facilities along the walk: Toilets are located at the Lyndale Car Park (in Lynmouth), Watersmeet Tea Room, and at the Blue Ball Inn - which is a great place to stop for lunch or snack. What's to love about this walk? Raging rivers, ancient leafy woodland, panoramic sea and country views - it has everything.
