GUIDED WALK: DOONE COUNTRY - HEROES, HEROINES, HUNTER-GATHERERS AND HERMITS

Join Rob Wilson-North for a longish walk over rough moorland to Badgworthy in the footsteps of author RD Blackmore (this being the 150th year since the publication of Lorna Doone). We will also be on the trails of hermits and hunter gatherers. This is an exploration of one of Exmoor’s most iconic places. Dogs on leads. Bring a packed lunch/refreshments. GUIDED WALK: MURDER & MYSTERY AT WHEAL ELIZA

On this stroll along the River Barle, hear the history of the Knights’ family, mining in this part of Exmoor and the tragic murder and mystery at Wheal Eliza. One or two short climbs but overall an easy walk along the valley. Return to Simonsbath for optional pub lunch or bring a picnic. Brought to you by The Exmoor Society

Hollerday Hill and Valley of Rocks guided walk

Enjoy a wonderful scenic walk, full of great views and history, whilst taking in woodlands, Exmoor's dramatic coastline and stepping back in time through the ages of Hollerday Hill and Valley of Rocks.

Please wear suitable footwear and bring a drink with you. The terrain is on footpaths, but in some areas steep, so not suitable for young children and pushchairs. Well behaved dogs on lead are welcome.

THE LORNA DOONE WALKS

Wild About Exmoor take you on a journey and a walk up the Doone valley through pastures alongside the beautiful Badgeworthy water. You can visit the R.D.Blackmore memorial stone and try climbing up the infamous waterslide that John Ridd scaled to meet Lorna Doone.
